Step 1 of 6
Get certified copies of your marriage certificate
Most offices want an original or certified copy of your marriage certificate, not a photocopy, so order a few.
- Where to order
To change your name after marriage in Louisiana, update Social Security first, then visit a Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) office in person, where a vision test is required. The replacement license fee is $17 plus a local fee of up to $8. Then update your passport, voter registration and accounts.
